Charles Hippolyte Aubry

Portrait of Rodin wearing a top hat, 1862

<guyatree adds:> Rodin was twenty-two years of age the year this plate was made, and shortly thereafter he left the art world to join the order of the Pères du Très-Saint Sacrament.

Two years later Camille Claudel, the woman who was to become his student, confidante, and lover was born. The two met when she was 20, and he more than twice her age.

Decades later Rainer Maria Rilke became his private secretary.
